Common questions about MarketBell

Is MarketBell really free? No credit card?
Yes, completely free forever. No credit card, no trial period, no paid tier. All 24 markets and all alert types are included at no cost. We may add premium features later but the core pre-market email alerts will always be free.
Which global stock markets does MarketBell cover?
MarketBell covers 24 markets worldwide — S&P 500, NASDAQ, Dow Jones, FTSE 100, DAX, CAC 40, Nikkei 225, Hang Seng, ASX 200, and more across Americas, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and the Middle East. Every major time zone is covered.
How is this different from CNN Fear & Greed Index?
CNN Fear & Greed measures US market psychology using 7 indicators including VIX and put/call ratios. MarketBell measures something different — what percentage of the world's major markets are advancing or declining right now, across every time zone. Our unique value is the early warning chain: Asia closes → email fires → you know before Europe opens.
How often will I receive emails?
On most days — nothing. Alerts only fire when markets show genuine breadth-confirmed significant moves. Based on historical data, a −2% average across a region only happens a handful of times per year. You will not be spammed with daily updates.
What times do alerts fire?
Three windows on weekdays: 6am UTC (Asia closes, Europe about to open), 1pm UTC (Europe mid-session, 30 min before Wall Street opens), and 2pm UTC (global check as Wall Street opens). Sunday 1pm UTC for Middle East post-close warnings before Monday's Asia open.
Is this really free?
Yes, completely free. No credit card, no trial period, no hidden costs. We may introduce a premium tier in the future with additional features, but the core early warning alerts will always have a free option.
Can I change my preferences after subscribing?
Yes — every alert email contains an "Update preferences" link. Click it to adjust your regions, threshold, or direction settings. No login required — the link is authenticated via a unique token tied to your email.
Does MarketBell cover commodities and crypto?
Yes. Every daily close email includes a snapshot of Gold, Silver, WTI Crude Oil, Brent Crude, and Bitcoin alongside the regional equity summary — so you see the full macro picture, not just stock indices. Commodity and crypto data is delivered automatically; no extra subscription needed.
What data sources do you use?
Live prices are sourced from Finnhub via ETF proxies that track each major index. The sentiment gauge uses an advance/decline breadth formula consistent with methods used by Charles Schwab and LPL Research.
